07. Adding audio to your story

Record your audio file

The objective of this next step is to play our Flourish story in the browser while recording our voice reading through the narrative text at the top of each slide.

To complete this step, here are the instructions again:

1. Export & publish your story to the web
2. Click on the link to go to your published story
3. Open your audio recording application, begin recording, and then click the Play button on your story
4. When the story has played all the way through, stop the recording
5. Convert the audio file to MP3

Note about recording adjustments

Note that it’s common to need to make adjustments to the duration of each slide as you read through the narrative text. Sometimes a slide changes to quickly, and other times it stays for too long. After tweaking the durations, you will need to republish the story and re-record your audio. For longer stories with more than 6 or 7 slides, it’s not uncommon to need to record different sections and then join these files together using a free audio mixing software package.
